THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Apollo Hospital of Texas will host Martinis, Mammos & Manicures on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at their facility, located at 9201 Pinecroft Drive, Shenandoah, Texas.

The Martinis, Mammos & Manicures event will give women the opportunity to mingle with physicians, surgeons and radiologists who specialize in breast care and health in a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. Attendees will be able to have a mammogram performed on-site that evening or schedule an appointment for a future date. Also, representatives from local lingerie shops will be on hand to offer fittings.

“Cancer is still a word that terrifies people and something women don’t want to talk about,” said Henna Malik, M.D. at Apollo Hospital. “It is through events like this we hope make the conversation of breast health and care easier for women and encourage them to take the simple steps to detect the disease in its earliest stages.”

According to the American Cancer Society, in 2014, an estimated 232,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer were expected to be diagnosed among US women, as well as an estimated 62,570 additional cases of in situ breast cancer. In addition, approximately 40,000 women are expected to die from breast cancer. Only lung cancer accounts for more cancer deaths in women.

The event will also include complimentary manicures, martinis and appetizers, in addition to door prizes.

Apollo Hospital provides more than just the care and treatment of cancer. Their boutique-style environment and expertly trained staff of medical professionals deliver prompt, courteous care. Apollo Hospital understands how difficult cancer treatment can be on a patient’s physical and emotional health, not to mention their self-image. Offering in-house spa services, patients can receive a full range of complementary therapeutic and aesthetic services including manicures, pedicures, wig fittings and other hair services to offset the challenges often faced throughout the treatment process.

Although Apollo Hospital is large enough to allow for in-depth cancer treatment and clinical services, it is small enough to offer exceptional patient care, personalized to treat the specific needs of each individual patient.

In addition to its premier diagnostic and cancer treatment center, Apollo Hospital offers a state-of-the-art cardiac catheter lab, inpatient and outpatient surgical suites and a 24-hour emergency center.
