THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Artist Cindi Harwood Rose will be making an appearance at The Woodlands Children’s Museum – just in time for Mother’s Day.

Guests may participate in a fundraiser for the nonprofit museum – and take home the perfect gift. The event is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 3.

Rose creates remarkable black and white silhouettes by snipping away at paper.

Guests can purchase a piece for $49 per person featured in the picture – and Rose can include up to four members of the family. Duplicate copies for grandparents and other loved ones are $15 each.

Rose began snipping her way to stardom at age 16 – beginning her career at Astroworld. She then took her talents to Disney World and Disneyland.

She taught herself to hand-cut silhouettes the classic French way, by looking and cutting without preliminary sketches. The entire process takes one minute or less.

In addition to breaking speed and production records, Rose has created her art for Neiman Marcus, Foley's, Joske's, Saks, Dillards, Lord & Taylor, Kaufman’s, the Europec in London, and on the BBC TV show, “Blue Peter.”

Rose donates most of her work today to charity. She has cut silhouettes pro bono for several charitable causes – the Alley Theatre, Texas Children’s Hospital, Houston Ballet Academy and Moore’s School of Music, as well as schools, synagogues and churches.

“Cindi’s art is truly unique; she does not use a light, shadow, photos or cameras,” Angela Colton, executive director of the museum, explained. “She is the best and fastest silhouette artist around. Her silhouettes will be treasured for lifetimes.”
