THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands Children’s Museum is the place to play during the fall and winter holiday season. The museum’s schedule is full of fun activities, as well as a number of workshops for children ages 7 and under.

Child-friendly events designed to promote traditions, holiday spirit

Mark your calendars for:

The Original Halloween SpookTacular: For Halloween, nothing will be scary about the museum – it’s all about fun. There will be child-friendly games, art projects and activities. Costumes are encouraged. Come to the museum from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31, for the SpookTacular celebration. Kiwanis will be selling pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs and drinks.

Falltivities!: These half- and full-day workshops for Thanksgiving are designed to delight young minds with the spirit of fall. Sign your child up for morning or afternoon sessions. To enroll in both sessions, register for the “lunch bunch.” Check the website for times and dates – or pick up a brochure at the museum.

Winter FUNcation: The museum offers morning and afternoon classes for children 4 to 8 years old during winter break to keep those young minds active and entertained. Visit the website for times and dates of the various workshops. Parents may pick and choose courses for their children to attend.

Pancakes With Santa: Reserve a space for 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, at The Woodlands Children’s Museum to celebrate the holidays over an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast buffet. Join Santa Claus for pancakes, deliver letters to be mailed to the North Pole and create a variety of art projects. After the event, stay and play at the museum. Presale tickets are available for $30 for children and $15 for adults.

Mrs. Claus’ Gingerbread House Workshop: Children will create and take home their own gingerbread houses while mingling with Mrs. Claus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 16, or Saturday, Dec. 19. All the supplies for the gingerbread houses are provided, and the cost to attend is $5 above normal museum admission per person.

High Noon Countdown (2): Ring in the New Year at the museum! There will be two countdowns – the first from 10 a.m. to noon and a second from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31. There will also be a variety of games, art projects, Bubble Wrap dancing and a balloon and confetti drop at the stroke of noon and again at 3 p.m.

There is also a special opportunity to support the museum during the holidays. The museum is selling tabletop arrangements for $35, and 24-inch, double-faced, freshly grown wreaths for $79. Funds raised from the sale of the wreaths will benefit art outreach programs for Title I schools in Montgomery County.
