MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX - MainStreet America in Spring will host a fundraiser benefitting the clients of Bridgewood Farms on Saturday, April 16, 2016 beginning at 6:30 pm. The annual event, “Around the World in 180 Minutes” will be an evening of wine tasting along with Live and Silent Auctions. The public is invited to join the fun by purchasing a passport for entry into the event.

Each participant will receive a wine glass with a handmade ceramic wine charm (made by the clients) and a passport. Attendees will travel through thirteen regions of the world getting their passport stamped while tasting wines of that region. Some of the auction items include a week-long stay in Vail in a lovely private home located on Eagle Vail Golf Course, an Astros Club Level Private Suite, an opal ring with ten garnets in a yellow gold mounting from Camillo's Jeweler, and a dinner for 12 valued at $5,000.

Founded in 1967, Bridgewood Farms has a mission to provide programs and services to enable individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to reach their highest potential through training and life experiences that build self-esteem and promote personal independence. Bridgewood Farms serves over 100 teens and adults with opportunities to lead healthy and productive lives.

Bridgewood Farms programs are targeted towards physical, emotional, and social well-being. Clients train for Special Olympics in the gymnasium, participate in classroom skills to learn basic nutrition, money management, housekeeping, social interaction, and reading that are specific to the individual and their needs. Other programs include respite care, pre-vocational training, horticulture, ceramics, and adult continuing education.

“Our programs provide continual opportunities for growth of our Intellectually and Developmentally Disabled Adults”, said Karen Jones, Assistant Executive Director. “The Annual Wine Event directly impacts all our programs and the quality of life for our clients”.

Spain will be the highlighted wine region, sponsored by Mary and Tom Krolczyk, with complementary taste bites that reflect this rich epicurean region. Paella, empanadas, and other delectable cuisine will highlight Spain.

“Every year we try to make the event more successful for both our organization and the community. This year is no exception”, said Christa Krumins, Board Member and Chairperson of the Wine Event. “Our focus this year will be on the flavors and wines of Spain. We are pretty excited about adding the culture and romance of a Spanish Fiesta!”

The success of our community is dependent on individuals working together. Bridgewood Farms requests the public to both share and support what we do to help individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities throughout Montgomery County and surrounding areas. Bridgewood Farms is located on 53 acres serving clients through day programs, respite programs, pre-vocational programs, and other social, wellness, and educational programs for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities to promote self-esteem and personal independence. The day program is open Monday-Friday from 7:00am-5:30pm, programming is 9:30am- 4:00pm, the after school program is 2:00pm-5:30pm, the respite program is offered 7:00am 9:30am, and then again from 4:00 pm – 5:30 pm to help families. Donations are tax-deductible and critical to the operating budget. Located at 11680 Rose Road I Conroe, visitors may schedule a visit to volunteer or receive services.
