THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Woodlands Township reminds residents that all solid waste services in the community will occur as usual over the Labor Day holiday. There will be no interruption or delay of services due to the holiday. Waste Management will provide curbside pickup of trash, recycling and yard trimmings to residents on their regular service day, including Monday, September 5, 2016.

Waste Management instituted the policy to reduce the number of holidays taken by operations staff in 2015. “Residents will receive recycling and trash pickup on Labor Day and all services will occur as usual for the remainder of the week,” according to John Geiger, manager of The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department.

To ensure trouble-free curbside service, residents are reminded to keep streets clear of parked cars and service vehicles on their pickup day. Waste Management trucks are large and need clear access in order to service streets. Drivers will not be able to provide service to the street if there is a safety issue or possibility for property damage due to parked vehicles.

“As a safety reminder, if trash trucks cannot drive down a street, it is very likely that emergency vehicles will not be able to access homes either,” Mr. Geiger notes.
