Lone Star College recognizes National Manufacturing Week

HOUSTON, TX -- The Texas Association of Manufacturers reports the manufacturing industry is a large producer of electronics, airplanes, agriculture equipment, petroleum products and chemicals, heavy machinery, processed foods, motor vehicles, plastics, rubber and more. Lone Star College recognizes the industry’s contributions during the National Manufacturing Week taking place Oct. 6-13.

“The manufacturing industry is responsible for creating, maintaining or repairing many of the products we use daily,” said Linda Leto Head, LSC senior associate vice chancellor, External and Employer Relations. “Lone Star College is committed to training high-caliber manufacturing professionals that will continue to move our society forward.”

National Manufacturing Week honors the manufacturing industry’s contributions and how they have impacted the country’s economy in the last year. This week also serves to help workers develop their careers in the manufacturing industry, which they can do by enrolling in LSC’s energy and manufacturing programs.

“Lone Star College’s credit and continuing education (CE) programs in energy and manufacturing lead students to viable, high-paying jobs,” said Head. “They will have the opportunity to participate in experience-led and hands-on learning using equipment and tools common in the industry.”

Students enrolled in one of LSC’s manufacturing programs complete highly technical tasks that require engineering skills and knowledge. The Lone Star College Corporate College has developed deep relationships with employers who are thrilled to hire LSC students in these careers.

“Lone Star College relies on industry experts to provide current and future needs on the latest technology and equipment upgrades to improve the curriculum,” said Head. “This ensures our students are highly qualified and ready to enter the workforce successfully.”

In addition to degree and certificate programs, the LSC Corporate College partners with national and multinational corporations to provide customized training, industry certifications and recruitment opportunities for graduates.
