CONROE, Texas – A four-run sixth inning broke open a close game Friday and the College Park High School baseball team earned a 6-1 win at Conroe’s Elmore Field.

Montana Parsons fired a three-hitter, striking out 10, to pick up the complete-game victory. He shut out the Tigers over the first six innings and allowed just five baserunners while the Cavaliers (17-8, 6-2) extended a 1-0 lead with a sixth-inning explosion.

Jayden Holden, Roosevelt Henderson and Noah Vaughn delivered two hits apiece to pace College Park’s offense. Austin Stokes contributed with an RBI.

The win allowed College Park to keep pace with Bryan. Both are tied for second place in the District 14-5A standings and each gained a game on league-leading The Woodlands, which fell at Lufkin on Friday. The Highlanders hold a one-game lead over both the Cavs and Vikings.

College Park plays out of district at 2 p.m. Saturday when it hosts College Station at The Diamonds. The Cavaliers return to district play at 6 p.m. Tuesday, hosting A&M Consolidated.

A big 7 p.m. Thursday game at Lufkin also looms large next week for the Cavaliers, who hope to avoid the upset bug on the road to the upstart Panthers.
