It cannot be denied that we’re officially in holiday season now; and it equally cannot be denied that there’s an amazing slate of events for the area. Here’s a list of our top five!

Thursday, November 23

How about the perfect way to build up an appetite Thanksgiving morning before the turkey feasting commences? A local Thanksgiving morning tradition, YMCA Run Thru the Woods in The Woodlands has supported local non-profits for over 30 years. The event brings thousands of community members together for entertainment and run/walks designed for all ages. Whether you’re a veteran runner or participating in your first race, they have an event for you, including a 3-mile run, 5-mile run, 3-mile walk, and 1-Mile Kids Race. Strollers are welcomed. Start/Finish Line is located on Lake Robbins in front of the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands, the race venue host.

Friday - Sunday, November 24 - 26

It’s a three-day weekend for the final round of this season’s Texas Renaissance Festival. This closing weekend’s theme is Celtic Christmas. Revel with loved ones as Father Christmas, Mother Christmas, and all the elves welcome children of all ages to celebrate the coming Yuletide season.The Kingdom is transformed into a Christmas wonderland and holiday music fills the lanes. Find the perfect gifts for everyone on your list in over 400 shoppes. There's also a holiday costume contest and the pumpkin pie eating contest to add to your Christmas cheer. This year’s festival will be creating even more immersive experiences for adults and children. With 21 stages, The King’s Feast, jugglers, bards, acrobats, games, rides, restaurants, pub crawls, and hundreds of shoppes and artisans, there is something for everyone.

Friday - Sunday, November 24 - 26

Actually, this gorgeous event runs from tonight all the way through the end of the year. Experience the joy of the season with your family at The Festival of Lights at Woodlands Church. This outdoor holiday experience includes a walkthrough light display show, music, and a family-friendly experience for all ages. Enjoy warm cocoa and cider as you make lasting family memories this holiday season courtesy of The Woodlands Church. Proceeds benefit local missions. Ticket Price: $10 (children 4 and under are free)

Saturday, November 25

All day long throughout several shows, Alphie the Elf – puppeteering performer without peer – will be presenting puppet shows at The Woodlands Children’s Museum. Each show combines Christmas songs, puppetry, and magic. Puppets sing familiar songs like “All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth” and “I’m Gettin’ Nothin’ for Christmas.” Children delight in performing with Alphie to “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” and watching Rudolph’s nose magically appear and dance from child to child. Event is included in the price of admission, which is $8 for adults and children 1 year and older.

Sunday, November 26

It’s guaranteed to be a cool Christmas as Cool Freddie E & The Crew take the stage at Dosey Doe - The Big Barn. Freddie and crew are an incredible vocal group who perform Oldies, Classic Rock, Country, Motown, Blues, Jazz, Top 40, Pop, & Easy Listening favorites. Formed in May 2008,their captivating live performances bring the music alive to their audiences and leave them wanting more. Be sure to hit the venue early to grab a delicious dinner before the concert!
