SPRING, Texas - The College Park High School football team took on the Spring Lions at Spring High School in the first round of the 2015 UIL State Football Playoffs on Friday, November 13. Ultimately, it was the Lions who prevailed and would go on to defeat the Cavaliers, 28-10.

To begin the first half, Spring received the ball and began on their own 37-yard line. From the start, Spring took the lead. With just minutes into the first quarter, Spring quarterback Eric Spencer Jr. scored the Lions’ first touchdown of then night with an eight-yard run. The point after the touchdown was no good, and the Lions took a 6-0 lead. With less than a minute left in the first quarter, Spring’s Joseph Dorceus scored a second touchdown for the Lions. After a two-point conversion, Spring took a 14-point lead over College Park, 14-0.

The field goal was good and the Cavaliers were able to get some points on the board, trailing Spring 14-7. Neither teams would score for the rest of the half, with College Park down by 7 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, Dorceus scored another touchdown for Spring, increasing their lead over College Park, 21-7. Spring continued to dominate in the third after an interception, until the Lions fumbled the ball and it was recovered by College Park’s Connor Kidd at the Cavalier eight-yard line. The Cavaliers are unable to score however, and at the end of the third quarter, Spring still had a 21-7 lead.

In the fourth, College Park kicker Spencer Tybur had a field goal to get three more points for the Cavaliers. Spring still had the lead, 21-10, with about 11 minutes left in the game. Once again, Dorceus got ahold of the ball for Spring and scored his third touchdown of the night, giving the Lions a 28-10 lead with just four minutes left in the game.
