Woodforest Golf Club adds indoor training studio

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- Woodforest Golf Club is expanding, adding a training complex to its already generous complement of practice facilities.

Slated to open in late April with an official grand opening in May, the new indoor/outdoor complex is 2,800 square feet indoors and another half-acre outdoors. The indoor component comprises three dedicated instruction bays, one bay for club fitting and an area for training, fitness and rehabilitation. A large grass tee for instruction offers a 105-foot synthetic turf. There is also a practice target green.

“Everything you need to perfect your game will be offered for instruction, club fitting, analyzing your swing, conditioning as it relates to golf as well as detailed information on diet and nutrition,” said Tom Martty, general manager of Woodforest Golf Club.

The new facility will be outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment for swing analysis including Trackman, Swing Catalyst, Boditrak Sports, V1 Sports, Blast Sports and Foresight. The fitting area will feature clubs from PING, Titleist, Mizuno, TaylorMade, Callaway and PXG and an unlimited selection of shafts and grips.

The right fit can make a measurable improvement in your game, said Alan Hodde, the club-fitting expert from AXIS Golf Academy.

“Couple that with detailed analysis of your club head speed, tempo, backswing length and other factors, and you will be amazed how much your golf game transforms,” he said.

The new golf training complex is part of a combination of practice facilities not rivaled in Houston that includes a driving range, short-game chipping and pitching area, a 13,000-square-foot chipping/putting green and another 18,000-square-foot putting (only) green in addition to all the new complex offers.

Private and group instruction is available along with the AXIS Golf Academy. PGA professional Jon Baacke directs the Woodforest instructors on staff that features ladies and youth group lessons while Hodde plays the lead role for AXIS. All of the professionals on staff teach individual lessons as well.
