THE WOODLANDS, TX – Spring is nearing full swing at north Houston’s City Place as March brings a week of complimentary activations spotlighting the Texas Bubblers, AndyRooniverse, Tippi Toes and Mr. Leo’s Puppet show, as well as a movie night and a pair of Saturday markets. The month also unveils Periwinkle, a one-of-a-kind temporary art installation, along with a special fashion exhibit kicking off International Women’s Day. Visitors will also enjoy an Easter celebration and popular reoccurring programming. The excitement is all taking place on and around the community’s central Plaza at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive – Spring, TX 77389.

Spring Break Programming
School’s out, and City Place is celebrating with complimentary, kid-friendly activations each day between March 8 and 17. Texas Bubblers kicks off the festivities by waving their wands to create bubbles as large as 10 feet wide during complimentary demonstrations on March 8 from 5-7 pm, March 12 from 3-5 pm and March 14 from 11 am to 1 pm. The fun continues the evening of March 8 with complimentary Pix In The Plaza from 7-9 pm. The alfresco family movie night pairs Willy Wonka with complimentary popcorn and sweet treats.

Get into the spirit of the season on March 9 from 10 am until noon as City Place unveils Periwinkle – the first of a new series of Instaworthy pop up art installations – with a ribbon cutting and complimentary celebration featuring streamer and dream catcher stations, music and dancing. Free of charge and on display through July, the immersive and expansive piece from Dallas-based creators The Color Condition blends vibrant colors, patterns and movement to create fantastical realms reminiscent of Candyland, Peter Pan, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Intertwining the extraordinary and the everyday, it seeks to bring a new dimension of wonder to the urban core’s waterfront Plaza abutting the Houston City Place Marriott and adjoining City Place Park, spanning its main bridge.

The popular Your Neighborhood Farmers Market shifts to weekend activation for Spring Break. March 9 from 2-6 pm, look for a special focus on artisan/maker offerings alongside a guitarist and food trucks, and March 16 from 10 am to 2 pm, traditional market offerings will be accompanied by a steel drum player and food trucks. Both days, guests can shop organic, locally grown produce, grass-fed meats, pasture-raised eggs, artisan cheeses, fresh baked goods and juices, specialty prepared food, plants, natural pet treats and more.

On March 10 from 1-2 pm, little ones can join AndyRoo on a complimentary musical journey to the AndyRooniverse — a magical town created by the ever-expanding landscape of children’s imaginations and filled with a myriad of animated characters. Mr. Leo’s Puppet Show will also take center stage March 10 and 11 with shows at 4 pm and 5 pm each day, and March 15 with shows at 11 am and noon.

Children ages 3-7 years old can get their groove on with Tippi Toes March 10 and March 17 from 2:30-3:30 pm during complimentary sessions that teach movement, balance and other fundamentals of dance. Beginning on March 20, reoccurring, paid classes will be offered every Wednesday through May from 5:30-6:15 pm with registration required via https://dancestudio-pro.com/online/classes.php?account_id=15608.

Seasonal Programming
Curated by City Place resident Denise Zimmermann, PhD, “Threads of Time: Sewn Through Generations” will debut on March 8 in celebration of International Women’s Day. Though the lens of fashion, the unique exhibit spotlights the perspective of five women representing five generations – The Silent Generation, The Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z. Each participant was given the same dress to reinterpret based on her perspective of the corresponding generation. To accompany the fascinating results, an accompanying commentary will describe the strengths, struggles, celebrations and restrictions each felt their generations were confronted with and were able to overcome. The free exhibit will be on display in the lobby of 1700 City Plaza Drive (behind Common Bond) through March 21 – Monday through Friday from 8 am-5 pm.

Hop into City Place on March 30 from 11am to 1 pm for an Easter celebration on The Plaza. Open to the public and free of charge, the family-friendly afternoon will showcase a petting zoo, photos with the Easter bunny, arts and crafts and more.
