SPRING, TX -- Seasonal outdoor fun is ramping up at north Houston’s City Place, where a range of mostly complimentary and family-friendly programming makes for a memorable May on and around the central Plaza at 1250 Lake Plaza Drive – Spring, TX 77389.

On May 4 starting at 8 pm, Pix on The Plaza welcomes the start of baseball season with an outdoor screening of family classic The Sandlot. Complimentary popcorn will be available while supplies last, and low-profile chairs and picnic blankets are welcome.

The fun continues as Mr. Leo Puppet Show creates an unforgettable, playful and imaginative adventure for children during free, interactive performances incorporating puppets, marionettes and magic. The two-hour shows start at 11 am on May 5 and 26, with the May 26 edition spotlighting a special pop-up puppet bus.

Texas Bubblers will also return, bringing a magical spin to bubble blowing, creating mesmerizing orbs as large as 10-feet-wide with giant wands. Catch them for free on The Plaza May 11 from 11 am to 1 pm.

Families can celebrate Mother’s Day in The Plaza with complimentary arts and crafts activities for children on May 12 from noon to 2 pm. In partnership with City Place creative social club Oiler Studio, kids are invited to decorate a planter, create a Mother’s Day card and take home streamer sticks and dream catchers inspired by the Periwinkle art installation.

On May 12 and 25 from 11 am to noon, children can join Andyroo on a complimentary musical journey to the AndyRooniverse — a destination powered by imagination.

Health and wellness take center stage under the stars with Luna Celebration on May 23 from 7-9 pm. The complimentary offering promises a peaceful and relaxing experience for adults with components including yoga, breath work, sound healing and a labyrinth walking meditation. MSDA: Be Dance is a new, kid-centric addition to the City Place programming calendar. Utilizing the fundamentals of dance, the complimentary sessions focus on movement and balance. Classes are offered every Wednesday, May 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 5:30-6 pm for children ages 2-5 years and 6 until 6:30 pm for ages 6-10.

Soccer Shots kicks The Plaza into high gear every Monday – May 6, 13, 20 and 27 – with paid workshops that build on sport skills and character development. Classes for ages 2-3 years take place from 4:30-5 pm, followed by ages 3-5 years from 5:10-5:45 pm. Registration is required at https://woodlands.soccershots.com/search?txt=City%20Place.

Complimentary Yoga on the Plaza is scheduled every Saturday – May 4, 11, 18 and 25 – at 10 am. The one-hour experience includes a mediation element and is the perfect way to jump start the weekend with the picturesque City Place Park waterfront as its backdrop.

Must-see pop up art installation – and perfect senior picture spot – Periwinkle from Dallas-based creators The Color Condition is now on display and free of charge through June. The expansive piece, spanning from The Plaza across City Place Park’s main bridge, blends vibrant colors, patterns and movement to create fantastical realms reminiscent of Candyland, Peter Pan, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Guests are encouraged to share their visits by following @CityPlaceNow on Instagram and tagging #MyPeriwinklePic for a chance to win a $100 gift card to a City Place restaurant. The next winner will be announced via social media on May 15.
