Class Act Productions presents 'Fiddler on the Roof'

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - Class Act Productions presents the Tony Award-winning musical Fiddler on the Roof October 30 – November 1 at Nancy Bock Center for Performing Arts, 3800 S. Panther Creek Drive, The Woodlands.

Performances are 7:30 p.m on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31 and a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Sunday, November 1. Tickets are $15-$30 with discounts for seniors and children 12 and under. Groups of 10 or more can contact grouptickets@classactproductions.org.

Written by Joseph Stein and based on Sholem Aleichem’s story “Tevye and His Daughters”, FIDDLER ON THE ROOF debuted on Broadway in 1964, and ran for 3,242 shows, becoming the longest-running musical at that time.v It won nine Tony Awards, including Best Musical and, in1991, earned another Tony as Best Revival of a Musical. The 1971 movie was nominated for Best Picture and picked up three Academy Awards.

Set in 1905, it is the story of dairyman Tevye and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, he tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. The musical includes such well-known songs as Sunrise, Sunset, If I Were a Rich Man, and Matchmaker.

WILLIAM HAHN, a junior at Klein Collins High School, plays Tevye and MURPHY BAKER, a Woodlands High School, junior plays his wife, Golde. The three older daughters are portrayed by GABI MARTINEZ, ABBY TOZER, both from The Woodlands High School and PAYTON RUSSELL, a sophomore at The John Cooper School.
