Strykers sign Ford brothers

THE WOODLANDS, Texas - The Woodlands Strykers would like to announce the signing of brothers Jerry and Aaron Ford. Jerry, a sophomore at Texas Southern University was recently named South Western Athletic Conference player of the week after he went 5-13 .385, recorded two RBI’s along with one stolen base to help Texas Southern win the three game set against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Prior to season beginning, Jerry was named an All SWAC player selection after posting a .298 average, 34 RBI’s and 10 stolen bases his freshman year. Jerry had this say about joining the Strykers this summer stating, "I'm extremely enthusiastic about the opportunity to compete in the TCL and can't wait to put on a Strykers uniform!”

Aaron Ford joins the Strykers this summer from San Jacinto Junior College. Originally a University of Houston commitment, Aaron brings a live arm to the Strykers rotation and is sure to make an immediate impact. A graduate of Klein High School, Aaron won numerous awards including being named as an honorable mention selection to the Texas All-regional team as well receiving honorable mention status for underclass All-American in 2012. So far this season, Aaron has put up good numbers for San Jacinto posting a 3.47 ERA with one save and 47 strikeouts. Head Coach John Villarreal had this to say about the Ford brothers joining the Strykers, stating, “We are very excited to sign the Ford brothers. Having Aaron Ford join our pitching staff is great addition. Jerry Ford brings a lot of tools to the game that can help us win. With some of the players returning from last year's squad and the addition of the new players I can't wait to get the season started!”

The Strykers will kick off their 2014 campaign with a four game home stand starting on Thursday May 29th @ 7:05 pm against the Victoria Generals, followed by two games against the defending TCL champion Brazos Valley Bombers.
