About Us

Located in The Woodlands, Texas, Methodist Retirement Communities (MRC), is a not-for-profit 501(C)(3) charitable service ministry related to the Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church providing senior housing and retirement services in East Texas for over 40 years. Although affiliated with the United Methodist Church, MRC welcomes residents of all faiths, without regard to race, color, or national origin.

Methodist Retirement Communities began its service to senior adults in 1962 when it opened its first independent living facility in Galveston at the Moody House, a property that was a gift to the Methodist Church in memory of W.L. Moody, Jr. Today the MRC network includes six campuses throughout East Texas, including Galveston, Huntsville, Bryan, La Porte, Lufkin, and Texarkana. Most Methodist Retirement Communities campuses are full-service retirement complexes that provide a wide array of housing options for seniors.

Mission
Methodist Retirement Communities is dedicated to providing a continuum of quality care to senior adults in a Christian environment.

MRC believes that its purpose is to offer services and programs that minister to all our residents' needs, psychological, physical, social, and spiritual. Its goal is to care for the whole person and to offer services and activities that provide a home-like environment for both the residents and their families.

A Full Continuum of Care and Service
Methodist Retirement Communities provide three basic levels of senior housing and health care, including:

Independent Living apartments for retirees seeking apartment-style living and patio homes, a choice of dining options, and a full schedule of activities;

Assisted Living programs for those requiring minimal assistance with activities of daily living and medication administration;

Health Care options to provide 24-hour care to seniors who require around-the-clock nursing assistance.

In addition, several campuses also offer special care units for residents with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. These facilities are devoted to the concept of "sheltered freedom."
