From the intricacy of The Art of the Fugue, and the radiancy from the Goldberg Variations, Bach’s counterpoint unfolds across the ensemble. The night ends in a burst of youthful brilliance with Mendelssohn’s Octet, written at age sixteen and overflowing with virtuosity and soaring melodies.
