Grand Oaks Grizzlies Varsity Football Team

The Grizzlies are led by Head Coach Dr. Mike Jackson. Coach Jackson has 26 years’ experience as an Athletic Director/Head Football Coach. During this time, he has compiled a record of 183-98-4. This includes 2 State Championships and 21 playoff appearances. He was 64-23 in his seven seasons at La Marque, including a district record of 28-4. He has led 5 different schools to the playoffs and 4 different schools to the 4th round. Coach Jackson has been named District Coach of the Year eight times and has served as the Head Coach of the Bayou Bowl (2012), Space City (2010) and the GHFCA Bowl (2014) All-Star games. Coach Jackson was named Galveston County Coach of the Year three times, in 2011, 2012 & 2015, as well as being named Houston Texans "Coach of the Week" in 2011, 2015 & 2017. He is a Past-President for the Greater Houston Football Coaches Association (2011-2012) and has had 13 assistants move on to take Head Football Positions during his career.

He has his B.A. from St. Edward's University in Physical Education/History (1990), an M.A. from Southwest Texas State in Athletic Administration (1991), an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of Houston-Victoria (1994), and his Ph.D. in Leadership Studies from California Coast University (2001). In the spring of 2017 he was inducted into the Ronnie Bell Hall of Honor and has spoken at numerous clinics regarding offensive football and program development, including the Glazier, Greyhound, City of Palms, Gridiron Heroes & Gateway to Mexico Clinics. He is married to Tracey Jackson and has three children Mariah, Jericho, and Maverick.
