Vintage Harlequin Jester Figurine
This doll was purchased in New Orleans several decades ago and has been on shelf display since. The face is white porcelain/ceramic with classic jester makeup of arched eyebrows and a teardrop. It wears a multi-pointed jester/fool’s cap with bells at the tips, and the shine of the bells is dulled with age. The costume consists of gold fabric covered in sequins and blue fabric with a shiny botanical pattern. It has a ruffled metallic collar with trim and matching cuffs at the ankles and wrists. The elastic in the neck, wrists, and ankles may be shot due to age. I have not tested it, and the clothes are not removable, so I’m not sure it matters. The doll has porcelain hands and feet and wears red shoes. The left shoe has a partial Made In China sticker on the bottom, and there is one tiny chip of red paint missing in the heel of that same shoe. The doll is unbranded and the length from highest point of hat to shoes is about 11.5 inches long. Smoke free home.
