2005 Toyota Prius / 279,920 Miles
Selling as-is for parts or repair. The hybrid battery was replaced less than six months before the other problems began. The car has been parked for about six months and has only been started and moved occasionally since. I drove it regularly back and forth to work but replaced it with another newer Prius.
Known issues:
- The 12-volt battery needs replacement, will be charged for test drives.
- Engine uses oil, check between fillups.
There is a bad misfire that I believe is caused by oil in the spark plug holes when I accidently spilled into it while adding oil to the engine. Misfire is hit and mis, but more under load.Fixed, removed sparkplugs and cleaned out cavities, boots, and plugs. Engine runs smooth. Price adjusted from $1500 to $1800.- The dashboard display works intermittently. When it shuts off, the speed and fuel information aren’t visible.
- The A/C has a leak. A recharge lasts only a few days, and the leak location is unknown.
- The brakes are new, but there is a right rear brake-pressure fault. The brake system reports that pressure isn’t holding and disables the right rear brake. The brake, ABS, and VSC warning lights are on.
- Passenger mirror is shattered and "securely" taped in place.
The brake system needs diagnosis. Do to this test driving will be at your own risk, I was fine driving it until the misfire myself but I can not guarantee anything over time.
Paint is decent for its age, and the interior is in good condition. The right rear bumper has damage from a low contact side swipe; please see the photos. Registration is current through October 31, 2026.
$1,800 OBO. I can share the hybrid battery replacement details if available.
