Vintage Glass Feather Basket
Vintage L.E. Smith Glass Basket featuring the distinctive Herringbone or Feather pattern. Manufacturered by L.E. Smith Glass Company, a renowned American glass manufacturer founded in 1907 in Jeannette, Pennsylvania. The basket exhibits the "Herringbone" or "Feather" pressed glass pattern, characterized by its textured, clear glass design. This pattern is also sometimes referred to as "Fern" pattern. Pieces in this style, particularly with the feather/Herringbone pattern and an applied handle, were notably produced in the mid-20th century, specifically the 1940s-1960s. These handled baskets were commonly used as decorative centerpieces, fruit bowls, or to hold various items. This specific basket is typically made of clear, heavy pressed glass with a sturdy applied handle, and comes with a "hobnail" bottom. This piece measures approximately 14" Long by 11" tall at top of handle and 6" wide.
