G.Harvey “Boomtown Drifters” {numbered 62 of 2250, signed and dated 1979}
"Boomtown Drifters" is one of the most famous and acclaimed paintings by renowned Western and American artist G. Harvey (Gerald Harvey Jones). Painted in 1979, the atmospheric work depicts rugged cowboys on horseback riding past turn-of-the-century oil derricks on a rainy, moody evening. Due to the painting's immense popularity, Somerset House Publishing released a limited edition, hand-signed run of 2,250 print lithographs.
This one is numbered a very low 62 of 2250, signed and dated 1979, and was professionally framed by the upscale Houston art dealer from whom it was purchased by the current owner in late 1979 or early 1980. It has been in the same frame and behind glass since then. In it's current frame it measures about 38.5 x 30.5 inches, and the print itself is estimated to be about 19 x 28 inches.
The original oil painting "Boomtown Drifters" by G. Harvey sold for $1.23 million at a Christie's auction in October 2020 as part of the T.Boone Pickens collection.
