The TWAL Portrait Special Interest Group welcomes artists of all skill levels who are interested in painting, drawing, and creating portraits from a live model. We meet weekly from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM. This is not a formal class, but a relaxed, supportive environment where artists can practice and develop their portrait skills alongside fellow creatives.
Each session features a live model holding the same pose for the entire morning; some models may be in costume. Artists are encouraged to bring their preferred materials and media. A limited number of easels and tables are available if needed. For everyone’s comfort, please use only odorless solvents—no volatile organic chemicals.
A $15 per-session fee is requested to help cover the cost of the model. Any surplus funds are reserved for sessions when attendance is low and expenses still need to be met.
