Celebrate a greener Halloween with The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department at our fifth annual Pumpkin Smash! Join us Sunday, November 1, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Sterling Ridge Park and Ride for an afternoon of pumpkin-smashing fun.
Each year, Americans toss more than a billion pounds of pumpkins into landfills. Instead of sending your Halloween pumpkins to the trash, bring them to our event and give them a second life as compost.
What should you bring?
Pumpkins of any size or number - carved or whole, even those painted with acrylics
Make sure to remove all non-compostable items like candles, stickers, yarn, googly eyes and any plastics
Safety goggles and gloves (bring your own, or use ours)
Closed-toe shoes for safety
Smash It, Don’t Trash It!
Pick your favorite way to smash; send your pumpkin flying with our catapult, break it apart with a bat, or watch it burst from a 80-foot drop. Our team will be there to make sure everyone stays safe and has a great time.
All smashed pumpkins will be turned into nutrient-rich compost for local gardens, keeping food waste out of the landfill.
