About Avery Neal
Avery Neal, PhD, LPC, is a psychotherapist, researcher, and internationally published author dedicated to helping people who have experienced psychological abuse rebuild their self-esteem, confidence, and inner strength.
In 2012, Dr. Neal founded Women’s Therapy Clinic, providing therapy and counseling to women at every stage of life. Her work focuses on understanding relationship patterns, moving beyond self-blame, and creating healthier interpersonal dynamics. Dedicated to researching the impact of psychological abuse, Dr. Neal aims to improve mental and physical health outcomes, and advance treatment standards.
Dr. Neal is the author of If He’s So Great, Why Do I Feel So Bad?: Recognizing and Overcoming Subtle Abuse, published in 12 languages, which serves as the foundation for her second book, Loving You Shouldn't Be Hurting Me: Psychological Abuse and Its Effects on Physical and Mental Health, exploring psychological abuse patterns and offering guidance for clinicians.
