Filing Underway for Township Board Election

THE WOODLANDS, Texas -- The filing period for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors election, scheduled for May 8, 2010, is underway. Four at-large positions are up for election on the board. Candidates may file for a position on the ballot, up to 5 p.m. on Monday, March 8. The last day for declaration of a write-in candidacy is 5 p.m. on Monday, March 15.

To qualify as a candidate, persons must be 18 years of age, a resident of the Township for six months, a resident of Texas for 12 months and a U.S. citizen. Disqualifiers are mental incompetence and felony conviction.

Interested candidates may obtain a filing form and additional information by visiting the Elections section of The Woodlands Township Web site.

Residents who wish to apply for a ballot by mail can submit applications starting March 9 and must be received by April 30.
The last day to register to vote in the election is April 8. Early voting will be held from April 26 - May 4.
