THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Comast has begun launching its expanded Xfinity digital service to customers in The Woodlands. Xfinity gives customers enhanced TV, phone and internet services which include:

- Faster internet speeds
- 42 new HD channels
- 28 new SD channels
- 25,000 New Video On Demand Choices
- 3,000 New HD On Demand Choices
- Fancast Xfinity TV
- Smarter home phone features

Doug Guthrie, a Woodlands resident and senior vice president of Comast Houston, said, ”Xfinity offers more choice and control for our customers. The new service will have more HD Channels, faster internet speeds, better phone and security service than any other service provider in The Woodlands.”

In addition to the added HD channels, Comcast is also offering more online content with the Xfinity roll out through Fancast, which allows customers to watch programming on their TV, online, or over Wi-Fi.

Free Digital Equipment
To get the upgraded Xfinity service some customers may need to order the necessary digital equipment from Comcast. The new service requires a digital box or adapter. Limited channels will still be available without a box (2-20 and 53-55).

Customers who do not have digital boxes may call 877-634-4434 or sign-up online at the link below to get the necessary digital equipment sent to their home at no additional cost.

Existing customers who have digital boxes and have additional TVs that do not have a box may order up to 3 free pieces of digital equipment (1 digital box and 2 digital adapters) by calling or signing-up online at the Web site below. If more than 3 pieces of digital equipment are needed, they are available for a $1.99 a month each.

Starting this week, about 3,000 homes in The Woodlands will undergo the network enhancements in order to receive the new Xfinity service. More homes will be getting the upgraded service each week with full coverage of The Woodlands to be complete in the first quarter of 2011.
