Magnolia West Names Blake Joseph as New Head Coach

MAGNOLIA, Texas -- Blake Joseph has been named the new head football coach for Magnolia West. Joseph has been the offensive coordinator at Magnolia West High School for the past three years.
In his three years at West, he has had a winning record of 25 - 9. He brought the team to be a Bi-district finalist in 2016. In the past two years, Magnolia West has had back to back 9 win seasons being Bi-district champs and Area finalists in 2017 and 2018. In 2017 the Mustangs were District Champions.

Joseph’s coaching career began at Caldwell high school. From Caldwell, Joseph went to Temple High School. During his three-years at Temple high school Temple amassed a 32-8 record and won three district titles in a row. Most notable, Joseph went to the state championship game in 2014 and had a record of 13-2. In 2015, the Wildcats went on to the quarterfinals again amassing a 12-2 record.

Joseph has deep family coaching ties in the state of Texas. He is the nephew to Texas legend Katy High School Head Football Coach Gary Joseph. Other family members include Scott Joseph who has just become the head football coach at Aldine Davis and Doug Fertsch, former Texas high school head coach and collegiate coach.

Joseph is a former University of Houston quarterback and played under several prominent coaches. Joseph began his playing career at Houston playing for Art Briles and quarterback coach Philip Montgomery (head coach at University of Tulsa). Other prominent coaches during his time at Houston include Kevin Sumlin (head coach University of Arizona), Dana Holgorsen (head coach University of Houston), and Kliff Kingsbury (head coach of the Arizona Cardinals).

Joseph is originally from Bryan, Texas and a graduate of Bryan High School. Joseph and his wife Tori have two children, daughter Jala (8) and son Tyson (1).
