HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Residents from Harris County and beyond can honor or memorialize a special pet or person by donating a personalized paver for the new Harris County Pets Resource Center, which will open later this year. The fundraiser will support future pets by funding enrichment projects for the new facility.

“As we start to see the construction of our beautiful new facility come close to completion, we are encouraging all pet lovers throughout the community to take part in our paver campaign,” said Michael White, DVM, MS, director of Veterinary Public Health, a division of Harris County Public Health. “There is often a pet or pet lover who finds a special place in each person’s heart. Dedicating a paver at our new facility is a great way to leaving a lasting legacy in honor or in memory of a loved one, while making a difference in the lives our shelter pets.”

The pavers are available in different sizes, styles and costs:

- Clay Pavers: Available in 4”x8” ($100 each) or 8”x8” ($200 each), these pavers will be placed in the designated paver walkways to serve as a reminder of the impact a person has made in the community and to the animals of Harris County Pets.

- Photoetched pavers: Available in 8”x8” ($500 each) and 16”x16” ($1,000 each), these pavers will be displayed in and around the shelter at various locations. The photoetched paver purchase includes an invitation to attend a small unveiling ceremony at the new center and a photo opportunity.

- Shared paver option: *NEW* You can now purchase a single line of text (maximum 16 characters) on a shared clay paver ($37.50).

Interested donors can take advantage of a one-day sale of 25% off all pavers during World Pet Memorial Day on Tuesday, June 9. (The sale excludes the shared paver option.) For more information about pavers or to make a purchase, visit www.CountyPets.com.

The Harris County Pets Resource Center, which was passed by Harris County voters on a $24 million bond proposal in 2015, will provide a vast array of programs and resources, including: a pet wellness clinic with expanded veterinary services; indoor/outdoor kennels for dogs; cat condos; get-acquainted areas for interaction between potential adopters and pets; and a four-section dog park and pavilion to name a few.

The new center will replace the existing Harris County Animal Shelter on the same grounds at 612 Canino in Houston.
