THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS, -- Marilyn Hoffman of Hoffman International Properties donated an exquisite Arabian horse to The Loved Ones Left Behind (TLOLB). This local charity focuses on empowering families as they recover from a suicide by providing financial and emotional support. Hoffman, a world-renowned realtor and philanthropist, donated one of her Arabian horses to the organization just in time for their first annual “Run for the Roses” Kentucky Derby Soiree fundraising event. “I believe it’s a wonderful cause. Many people I know have been touched by suicide, even Pat, my partner, has suffered through the long road to recovery after her husband’s suicide,” Hoffman explains.

“The horse I donated, Mystical, comes from Live Oak Arabians in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and boasts a famous sire and dam,” she says. Hoffman bought Mystical as a baby and says she is trained for riding, but not for show, making her perfect for breeding future champions. This exquisite Arabian horse will be part of the silent auction at the upcoming Kentucky Derby Soiree event, which takes place on May 7th at Houston Oaks Ranch in Hockley. In addition to the auction, the glitzy and glamourous derby-themed soiree will feature classic derby drinks, cuisine, casino games, horse betting, and contests.

Mandi Brown founded The Loved Ones Left Behind in the wake of her own husband’s suicide in 2017. She and her volunteer team have put hours into planning the festive event and are extremely grateful for Hoffman’s generous donation. “The lucky person who wins the bidding for Mystical need not worry if he or she doesn’t have a ranch to house her,” Hoffman says, “The new owner can choose to pay boarding fees and we’ll keep her at our ranch in Mineola and even breed her on the owner’s behalf.” Those interested in attending what Brown says will be “the hottest Kentucky Derby soiree in town,” can visit TheLovedOnesLeftBehind.com website to learn more about sponsorship and ticket purchases.

For those passionate about the mission of TLOLB, it’s important to know that no one in the organization receives financial compensation for their work, not even Founder Mandi Brown. All of the staff works on a volunteer basis so that one-hundred percent of funds go directly to assist families grieving the loss of a loved one to suicide or attempted suicide.
