School zone traffic is hanging on for one more week, so be patient and keep an eye out on kiddos that may not typically be in classes. Lots of scholastic celebrations will go along with this week’s local high school graduations that include The Woodlands High School, Grand Oaks High School, Oak Ridge High School, and others. Whether you’re a student, teacher, administrator, parent, or just someone wanting to enjoy the impending summer, here are some events designed just for you.

Monday, May 23 - Sunday, July 31
SCFL (South County Football League) is holding ongoing registrations for its fall Cheerleading and Tackle Football programs. Whether you’re looking for a traditional cheerleading program for children ages 5-12 or a competitive, tackle football league for boys and girls in the same age bracket, there’s a program that will fit the bill. Cheerleader camp participants are taught cheers, chants, jumps, dance, basic tumbling, and game situations and cheer for fall season SCFL games. The football camp plays the majority of its games at the Gullo Park facility and competes against other teams in the league as well as those within the Lone Star Alliance.

Class Act Productions proudly presents its latest production, the classic Rodgers & Hammerstein musical South Pacific. It’s time to put on the t-shirts and jeans – and the sunscreen – and head out to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion for Buzzfest 2022 in The Woodlands, the annual rock festival guaranteed to break all local noise ordinances, featuring Papa Roach, Seether, Bush, The HU, Dead Sara, and 10 Years. This is pretty much an all-day/all-evening event, so if you don’t attend, keep an eye out on traffic.

Sunday, May 29
Celebrate the official start to summer at the annual Memorial Day event in The Woodlands! The Sunday event pays tribute to all military service men and women who lost their lives while serving the United States. The festival features live music, children's activities, strolling entertainment and more at Town Green Park. The evening concludes with a dazzling fireworks display choreographed to a patriotic soundtrack. Concessions will be available for purchase. Please be advised the Festival beverage booth will be cashless. Guests may pay with cash but will need to have exact change. Free parking, generously donated by Timberloch, Inc., will be available at the orange, yellow, blue and white lots at 2002 Timberloch Place. Coolers, picnic baskets, blankets and lawn chairs are permitted. Glass is prohibited.
