MONTGOMERY, TX -- Whataburger, the 73 year old Texas Treasure, recently celebrated the opening of its 1000th store on January 16th, with new locations in Georgia and Oklahoma. All of its stores in fourteen states from Arizona to Florida, including Texas, were in a celebratory mood, giving away free bottles of Whataburger Ketchup and other prizes to customers throughout the day. Whataburger started from a single burger stand in Corpus Christi, when founder Harmon Dobson opened his first store in June 1950 on Ayers Street.

Whataburger has announced plans to open new stores in Nevada, and South Carolina adding two more states to its nationwide footprint. The celebration of the thousandth store also prompted WBs spirit of giving back to the community.

“With this milestone, we are donating $100,000 to local food banks through the Whataburger Feeding Student Success program,” said WB President and CEO Ed Nelson. “We are committed to providing nutritious meals to those in need but to also empower young minds.”

Montgomery’s Whataburger celebrated the day as well, happy to be back from the treacherous roads of the day before. Ms Sandy Johnson, the well-liked WB family member (employee) of the store, was on hand to give out prizes to customers who enjoyed their meals in the dining room that day.
