The weather gods appear to be temperate this week, leaving you open to sampling att kinds of fun events. Here’s just a sampling of what’s available to you.

Monday, April 13
“Which lens should I use?” This is such a common question in the field, and the answer is at Precision Camera’s latest workshop. Lenses are tools and photographers should treat them as such. The choice between a 10mm lens and 300mm lens is no different than a carpenter using a hammer or a rubber mallet. Each is a tool. Learn about lenses, lens construction, bokeh, and more. Plus see examples. Also, when you should rent a lens and when you should buy a lens.

The Learning Zoo Animal Encounters takes place at The Woodlands Children’s Museum today at 11:00 a.m. Discover the fascinating world of various animals through this hands-on, interactive experience. Guests are invited to explore and learn intriguing characteristics and fascinating facts about mammals, insects, and reptiles. Included in the price of admission, which is $9 for adults and children 1 year and older.

Preschool Stay & Play (Open Gym) takes place at Maximum Athletics - The Woodlands today 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. for kids aged 12 months - 5 years. Registration is $15 for one child, $25 for families. Parents must stay for the event and children 3 years old and younger must be accompanied by a parent on the gym floor. Staff encourages all to bring water and a snack.

Everything is bigger in Texas and the Memorial Hermann IRONMAN Texas North American Championship delivers to scale. As a championship race, even bigger prize money and World Championship slots are on the line. Starting in Lake Woodlands, the freshwater lake swim takes triathletes from point to point before hunkering down for a flat and fast ride along the exposed toll road. Contending with wind and elements, the best endurance athletes will ride to the fore on this two-loop circuit before descending into America’s favorite run course. The Texas faithful will embrace runners on the three-lap course, promising spirited fans, themed cheer stations and a spectacular finish line.
