TxDOT to hold public meetings on Grand Parkway project
THE WOODLANDS, TX – The Texas Department of Transportation has announced a public meeting to address its proposal to widen SH 99, also known as the Grand Parkway, from west of Springwoods Village Parkway to east of Townsen Boulevard / Imperial Promenade in Harris and Montgomery counties.
The proposed project would consist of widening SH 99 for a distance of approximately 6.73 miles. Proposed improvements include the addition of two mainlanes (one in each direction) within the existing median between the two eastbound and two westbound mainlanes, for a total of three main lanes in each direction. The proposed project would involve an action in a floodplain. The existing roadway is a tolled facility and would continue to be tolled in the proposed design. In addition to the widening, two new direct connectors are proposed within the project limits, one from southbound I-45 to eastbound SH 99, and another from westbound SH 99 to northbound I-45. The purpose of the proposed project is to manage congestion due to increased traffic based on an agreement between the state and seven counties through which SH 99 passes. The entire project would be constructed within existing TxDOT right of way and would not result in any residential or non-residential displacements.
The virtual public meeting will be available starting on Tuesday, September 22, by 5:00 p.m. This virtual public meeting will consist of a pre-recorded video presentation and will include both audio and visual components, and will be available at www.txdot.gov/projects/hearings-meetings/houston/2026/sh99-092226.html.
Please note that the presentation will not be available on the website until the time and date listed above.
