Questions Surround Nick Tran’s Compliance with Texas Election Law as The Woodlands Voters Prepare to Cast Ballots
THE WOODLANDS, TX -- With early voting approaching in the November 3 election, questions have emerged regarding The Woodlands Township Board of Directors candidate Nick Tran’s compliance with Texas election law, including concerns over political advertising requirements and the apparent absence of a properly filed Campaign Treasurer Appointment (Form CTA).
Under Texas Election Code Section 255.006, certain political advertising for a non-incumbent candidate must include the word “for” immediately before the office being sought. Campaign signage distributed by Tran is not in compliance with this requirement.
Additionally, Texas Election Code Section 252.001 generally requires candidates to file a Campaign Treasurer Appointment (Form CTA) with the appropriate filing authority before accepting campaign contributions or making campaign expenditures. A review of available filing records shows that Tran does not have the required appointment properly on file.
For voters in The Woodlands, transparency and accountability should begin long before a candidate takes office. Campaign finance disclosure and political advertising requirements exist to ensure that voters have access to accurate information about those seeking public office.
The Preserve The Woodlands Candidate Committee believes that candidates seeking to represent the community should demonstrate a commitment to following the rules, respecting the electoral process, and maintaining the public's trust.
As voters consider their choices for The Woodlands Township Board of Directors, the Committee recommends a slate of four candidates who share a commitment to responsible governance, fiscal discipline, public safety, and protecting the character of The Woodlands.
