This is a antique Victorian whatnot shelf (also known as an etagere), from the late 19th or early 20th century. It's a freestanding display piece made of dark wood (possibly mahogany or walnut) with multiple graduated tiers of scalloped shelves, beveled mirrors on several levels, and ornate cast metal brackets providing structural and decorative support. These were popular for displaying knick-knacks, curios, or small ornaments in Victorian homes.
