This position serves as the centralized point of contact for services for abused and traumatized children and their non-offending caregivers to access the primary services offered through Children’s Safe Harbor’s (CSH) Counseling Department. Family advocates assist parents and guardians with accessibility to services within the children’s advocacy center for service delivery structure and outside community resources and organizations.

Family advocates are also responsible for assisting the agency partners with coordination of services and continuity of care accessibility to individual families. A family advocate will follow a case and support a family until the case is either closed or referred to the county and/or district attorney’s office.

Clinical Case Management

Greets each child and non-offending parent or caregiver and assists in maintaining their comfort and confidentiality.
Inputs case information into the Collaborate on a regular basis.
Provides child watch and cover the front desk when needed.
Family Advocacy Case Management Coordination and Community Resources

Assist in the processing, tracking, and assignment of counseling referral.
Provides quarterly needs assessments for the provision of support services for the families involved in the counseling department at CSH.
Assists families with crisis intervention throughout treatment services as needed.
Assists families with local community resources, criminal justice system resources, and statewide crime victim’s rights, including but not limited to: BACA, VINE, and MCUW Helpline.
Assists families with Crime Victims Compensation application and process if there has not been an application initiated by a family advocate at time of forensic interview.
Assists clients with coordination of additional victim services.
Provides telephone and/or face-to-face follow-up to support the continuity of care at 60 days following the forensic interview.
Documents FA service provisions in Collaborate and Excel spreadsheets.
Participates in individual, departmental and all staff meetings regarding systems coordination.
Communicates with all CSH direct service staff and co-located MDT members regarding resources and community projects.
Maintains accurate time sheets and time management and activity logs for grant purposes.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

The Family Advocate must have a significant number of skills and experience to fulfill the requirements of this job. The following is a checklist of required skills for this position.

· Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field.

· Volunteer experience with a nonprofit or children’s organization.

· Computer skills, especially word documents and spread sheets.

· Public speaking skills.

· Research and writing skills.

· Excellent communication skills.
