We are seeking a hands-on Assistant Controller to support both Tipler Design and Tipler Design & Build. This role is responsible for full-cycle accounting, day-to-day financial management for the Design entity, weekly accounts payable processing, and supporting accounting functions for the Construction entity.
Role and Responsibilities
• Manage full-cycle accounting, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, sales tax, and journal entries
• Sort, code, and match invoices to purchase orders
• Partner with the design team on purchase orders, project tracking, and client proposals
• Process weekly check runs, including vendor lien waivers; scan and attach supporting documentation
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
• Code and enter credit card transactions
• Prepare and file monthly sales tax reports
• Maintain sales and work-in-progress (WIP) tracking in Excel
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations
• Perform month-end close and prepare draft financial statements
• Work closely with the Controller and CFO on reporting and financial analysis
Qualifications and Education
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting preferred; however, candidates with significant relevant experience in a similar accounting role will also be considered.
• 2–8 years of experience in financial reporting, job costing, and general ledger accounting
• Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
Preferred Skills
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Experience with Sage
• Job-cost or project-based accounting experience
