Apply for Daytime Personal Assistant and Caregiver
We are looking for a polished, confident and compassionate caregiver and assistant to support a woman living with Parkinson's Disease in her daily life, appointments, and outings.
Job Description
Client first, always. Her safety is the top priority.
Hours are generally 9:30-5:30, with flexibility
Performing daily tasks such as, but not limited to getting her showered, dressed, hair and makeup, assistance in the restroom, driving her vehicle to appointments, office for meetings, shopping, managing medication etc.
Getting her safely out of the car, onto her scooter, and settled before anything else and you never leave her alone in a car, a restaurant, etc.
You'll be trained hands-on by her caregiver for the past year. Her routines and the way she's moved, dressed, and cared for are what make her feel safe.
Into physical fitness. You genuinely enjoy staying active. You'll go with her to Pilates twice a week, ride bikes and walk with her, and help her through her workouts. It is very important for her to stay active.
Speech practice partner. You'll work on speech exercises with her three days a week. It takes patience, consistency, and encouragement.
Administrative support. You'll regularly help with emails, paperwork, other admin tasks, and scheduling and managing medical appointments.
Required Skills
Physically capable: You'll be helping her stand, transfer, and get in and out of the car and onto her scooter every day. We need someone who's physically capable and confident handling this part of the job day in and day out.
Strong personality. You're personable, conversational, and fun to be around. She wants a companion, not just a helper.
Calm under pressure. Parking garages, running late, a change of plans: you can handle it with confidence and grace.
Multitasker and delegator. You can juggle appointments, errands, and her needs and you know when to hand something off.
Tech skills. Proficient with Apple products (iPhone, iPad, Mac) and Microsoft Word. You're comfortable with technology and can help her navigate these things.
Strong reading and writing skills. You can write a clear, professional email and read and follow instructions, forms, and medical paperwork accurately.
Organized and punctual. You keep track of schedules, show up on time, and get her where she needs to be on time.
Hair and makeup skills. You can do both well, and you're comfortable doing them on someone else every day.
Fashion sense. You can put together a sharp, age-appropriate outfit and you care about how she presents herself.
Ability to think a step ahead. Cars off, doors shut, keys in hand.
Respect for routine. She likes things a certain way, like her coffee stop. Learning and protecting her routines are part of the job.
