Job Description

Maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Clean classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, gymnasium, and common areas daily.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, sanitize, and disinfect all assigned areas following health and safety standards.
Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners throughout the campus.
Restock restroom and classroom supplies, including soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and cleaning products.
Perform routine inspections to identify maintenance, safety, or cleanliness concerns and report issues promptly.
Complete minor repairs, including replacing light bulbs, tightening hardware, adjusting doors, repairing furniture, and basic painting or patching.
Assist with preventative maintenance of school facilities and equipment.
Set up and break down classrooms, meeting spaces, assemblies, performances, athletic events, and special school functions.
Assist with moving furniture, equipment, and classroom materials as needed.
Maintain outdoor areas by removing debris, cleaning sidewalks, watering plants and grass, and assisting with campus appearance.
Monitor building security by locking/unlocking facilities and reporting unusual activity or safety hazards.
Operate and maintain custodial equipment safely, including floor scrubbers, vacuums, pressure washers, and other cleaning equipment.
Follow all OSHA guidelines, school safety procedures, and chemical handling requirements.
Assist with emergency cleanup due to spills, weather events, or facility issues.
Maintain an organized custodial storage area and monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and maintenance materials.
Support school administrators and teachers with campus-related needs as requested.
Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other operational duties to support the smooth functioning of the school.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while working in classrooms and offices.

Skills Required

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous custodial, facilities, maintenance, or handyman experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and custodial equipment.
Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, sanitation practices, and chemical safety.
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Dependable, punctual, and strong work ethic.
Positive attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.
Ability to communicate effectively with administrators, teachers, students, parents, and vendors.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks including bending, climbing ladders, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, secure, and professional school environment.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and model professionalism at all times.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check and any other screening required by state regulations.
CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Compensation:

$35,000
