Light the Night Walk is a national fundraising campaign that commemorates and celebrates all lives touched by cancer. Company teams, civic groups, neighbors and friends raise funds strolling on an evening walk along a two-three mile route carrying twinkling balloons . . . White balloons for survivors and Red balloons for supporters. Walkers carry dedication banners that provide an opportunity to display a name or message, honoring or commemorating a family member or friend with cancer. More than a walk, Light the Night is a community celebration with food, live entertainment and family activities – a community coming together to support people with cancer. In recent years, walks all over the country have raised tens of millions of dollars.

According to Roxanne Davis who is one of the Light the Night organizers, “This is such an unique event with the lighted balloons. It provides an opportunity to remember those we have lost and those who are survivors by the designation of red and white balloons. I walk in memory of my parents, Doc and Helen Smith, who were long time residents of Conroe. I lost my Dad to leukemia in 1993 and my Mom lost her battle with lymphoma in 2002. It is in their memory that I have chosen to get involved with the walk, both as a volunteer and participant. It has become an annual family event. So many people are afflicted daily with some form of blood cancer. Hopefully one day soon, a cure will be found. I encourage everyone to come out, bring the family, take a leisurely stroll through beautiful Market Street and enjoy all the activities”.
