MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Rusty Fincher, candidate for the position of Montgomery County Precinct 1 Constable, has received the endorsement of Don Chumley, the incumbent constable who is retiring at the end of this term. Fincher is a Captain in the Constable’s office, and has worked directly under Chumley for twenty years.

The working relationship between Fincher and Chumley has maintained strong over the decades. “I’ve known Rusty Fincher for 40 years, and over that time he has worked every facet of this office, from deputy to my current captain, where he has maintained the highest work ethic,” said Chumley. “He helped build this office to make it what it is today, and I can categorically state that there is no other candidate more qualified than Rusty to take the reins of constable. He’s always been there for the residents of our precinct, and he always will.”

Fincher’s law enforcement career began in 1980, when he graduated from the Texas A&M Police Academy. He joined the Montgomery County Constable’s Office as a Precinct 1 Deputy in 1995, quickly moving up the ranks to sergeant and lieutenant, being promoted to the rank of Captain in 1999.

Fincher has spent his time in the Constable’s office becoming intimately familiar with all aspects of it, making him the only candidate in the race with this qualification. For 10 years, one of his duties was as a “drug dog cop” with his able canine partner Sam. Together, they conducted countless drug sweeps in local schools, and also talked with thousands of students about the danger of illegal drugs. He has also been an integral part of the office’s Lake Conroe Safety Patrol and the multi-jurisdictional Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
