SPRING, TX -- The District 20-5A-leading Grand Oaks Grizzlies put their first place spot on the line when they hosted Tomball on Tuesday night. In what was an intense and energetic matchup, Grand Oaks came away with their sixth district win in four sets over the Cougars.

Tomball and their fans brought the noise in Set 1. The Cougars jumped out to an early 13-9 lead before a surge led by the game’s MVP Fallon Thompson pushed Grand Oaks back in front at 19-18. Tomball and Grand Oaks would go back and forth to have the set tied at 21 going into a timeout. Coming out of the break, the Cougars would pull ahead to win Set 1 25-22 thanks to a great spike that landed just inside the back line.

Set 2 would have a similar start. Tomball started strong once again and forced Grand Oaks to use their energy and talent to battle their way back into the game. The Grizzlies would do just that when they would take a 9-8 lead going into a timeout. From there, Grand Oaks would dominate. Lauren Vickery’s set-winning kill would help Grand Oaks even the game at one set apiece.

Sets 3 and 4 would showcase the game-breaking ability of this Grand Oaks team. After going through a slugfest in the first two sets, with the play-making ability of Fallon Thompson, Aidan Ballard, and Kamie Lohnes leading the way, the Grizzlies would put Tomball away effortlessly.

After dropping the first set, Grand Oaks would go on to win 25-19, 25-15, and 25-15 to remain undefeated in district play. The Grizzlies will go for their seventh-straight win this Friday at Montgomery HS.
