THE WOODLANDS, TX – Kevin Baker moved to The Woodlands in 2004. He started to work in real estate about eight years ago, and has since used his business platform, his voice in the business community, and his free time to help out people and four-legged friends within our community.

“I often say that I help people find homes, but I also help dogs find homes too,” Baker said. His passion for supporting animals was invoked by Hurricane Harvey. Following the devastating flood, many dogs were left wondering the streets. After the Montgomery County Animal Shelter brought them to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, Baker and his wife stepped in to help.

They started by cleaning the kennels, then, after receiving proper training, began dog walking. Today, they continue to participate in the shelter’s weekly Wednesday walks.

“It’s not only good for us, getting out there, getting fresh air, and walking around, but it changes the dog’s personality,” baker said. He and his wife currently have three rescue dogs of their own, including one long term foster with severe emotional trauma.

Baker’s dedication to animals in need carries into his career. Through his business (The Kevin Baker Real Estate Team), he sponsors and promotes Operation Pets Alive charity events, and donates raffle prizes, such as a stay in his Galveston rental property.

Baker also uses his business platform to sponsor the Miles for Meals 5k, which benefits Meals on Wheels Montgomery County. “With all that the community gives to me with real estate and selling homes, it’s a way for me to give back,” Baker said. He noted that many people don’t realize how many seniors are in need of meals in our area. That’s why Baker is on a mission to spread the word.

He joined The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce five years ago as a means to get more involved. His membership allots him opportunities to speak with business owners about causes that are dear to him, and ways in which they too can show support. “Just having that voice in the community to help spread the word sometimes makes all the difference,” he said.

Woodlands Online thanks Kevin Baker for all that he has done and continues to do for our community. We also want to extend a special thank you to Radunare - Italian American Table for gifting our contest winners with an authentic Italian meal for them and ten of their family and friends!
