THE WOODLANDS, TX --

Boys Soccer

Conroe 6, Grand Oaks 0

The Tigers picked up their second-straight win with a dominant showing on the road at Grand Oaks. A brace from two players, William Spellman and Daniel Ruiz, along with goals from Carlos Salinas and Ulises Quintanilla led their fifth district win (5-2).

Conroe didn’t waste time taking control of the game on Friday night. The Tigers took the lead in the fifth minute when Spellman, on the receiving end of a low cross into the box, slotted the ball home into the bottom left corner. 10 minutes later, Ruiz drew a foul in the box to win a penalty. Then, Salinas stepped up and converted the penalty kick to give Conroe a quick 2-0 lead. Ruiz scored a nice goal, diving to get his chest on the ball to redirect it into the net, to send the Tigers into halftime with a three goal lead.

Conroe kept the heat on Grand Oaks and matched their performance from the first half with another three-goal half. Quintanilla beat the keeper to start the scoring late into the second half. Ruiz picked up his second goal on a shot that was partially blocked but deflected into the net. Then, in the final minute, Conroe drew another penalty and Spellman stepped up to bury the spot kick to complete a strong night.

Conroe returns home for the next two games against College Park and The Woodlands.
