THE WOODLANDS, TX – After a hiatus last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Multi-County Crime Stoppers annual golf tournament is set to make a comeback Monday, Nov. 1, at High Meadow Ranch Golf Club in Magnolia.

November 1st Annual Golf Tournament

The tournament will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the nonprofit that exists to assist local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies operating within Montgomery, Liberty, and San Jacinto counties to gather intelligence about local felony crimes and locate wanted felony fugitives.

'Across Texas, there are approximately 155 Crime Stopper programs. The Multi- County Crime Stoppers was among the first and has been effective in tracking down criminals, making the communities we serve safer for residents,' said Specialist Steven Squier, Crime Stoppers Coordinator. 'Since inception, we have issued $800,000 in cash rewards, put over 1,000 fugitives in jail, and made over 2,600 arrests.'

The work Multi-County Crime Stoppers does for the community could not be possible without fundraising generated through events like the annual golf tournament.

'We depend highly on fundraising dollars to support our programs, including measures we implement to safeguard area schools,' said Squier.

One of these programs is the Bear-a-cade Door Control System, which quickly deploys on any interior classroom or office door to effectively barricade the door in the event of a hostile intruder incident. The device provides valuable time to occupants of the room and first responders called on the scene and offers peace of mind to faculty, staff, students, and parents.

Multi-County Crime Stoppers hopes to install the Bear-a-cade Door Control System at several schools throughout the counties it serves throughout the next year.

'We look forward to hosting the biggest golf tournament in the organization's history,' said Charlie Costenbader, board president for Multi-County Crime Stoppers. 'The goal of the event is to underscore the significant contributions of the organization and its role in creating a safer community for all.'

Sponsored by Mercedes Benz of The Woodlands and Talen Energy, the golf tournament begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start at 11 a.m. Complimentary lunch and dinner will be served. There will also be a live performance of the national anthem, a drone drop, a whiskey lounge, and a live DJ.
