Howard Hughes Corporation's Fall Giving Drive Raised Over $85K for Local Charities
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX -- The Howard Hughes Corporation® (NYSE: HHC) is pleased to announce its Houston area communities The Woodlands Hills® in Conroe and Willis, Texas and Bridgeland® in Cypress, Texas, raised over $85,000 for five area non-profits through its Fall Giving Drive which took place during the month of September. Non-profit beneficiaries include Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Operation FINALLY HOME, Montgomery County Food Bank, Cy-Fair Educational Foundation and the Willis ISD Education Foundation. The annual charitable campaign gave homebuyers the opportunity to donations made in their name by Howard Hughes. The additional participation of all 19 homebuilders within the two communities as well as key Realtor® partners resulted in another successful fall fundraising campaign to help deserving charitable organizations that provide critical community support.
“There are many positive impacts of the Fall Giving Drive, which provides residents the opportunity to make an investment in their community the moment they purchase a home through the funds donated on their behalf,” said Heath Melton, President of the Phoenix Region for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “Our hope is that homebuyers and their families will be inspired to continue to pay it forward and choose to volunteer or support any of the worthy non-profits that serve our community. A big thank you goes to all those involved in the Fall Giving Drive, whose support will help countless people.”
Walking the walk, Melton, who serves on the Gulf Coast Region Board of Directors for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, is the National Light the Night Ambassador and has raised over $600,000 for LLS. In 2020, Melton was the #1 LLS Light the Night Executive Challenge fundraiser in the nation, raising over $258,000 for the non-profit devoted to assisting cancer patients, their families, and research to find a cure. The Howard Hughes Corporation, together with Melton, has raised over $1 million for LLS, recently earning Melton and the Howard Hughes team a PRISM award for best charitable project at the annual Greater Houston Builders Association gala.
While homebuyers played a big role in the Fall Giving Drive, 100% of the builders in Bridgeland and The Woodlands Hills as well as various Realtor partners donated to the selected charities, providing an even greater boost to the charities and the meaningful work they do. Contributors include Beazer Homes, Chesmar Homes, Century Communities, Coventry Homes, Darling Homes, David Weekley Homes, Fedrick Harris Estate Homes, Gehan Homes, Highland Homes, Lennar, M/I Homes, Newmark Homes, Partners in Building, Perry Homes, Ravenna Homes, Taylor Morrison, Tri Pointe Homes, Village Builders and Westin Homes. Each builder made a $2,500 contribution to the fundraising efforts that will help impact the total donation to the five charities. Additionally, several of Howard Hughes’ Realtor partners have also made donations to the cause: The Lippincott Team, Shelley Cooley with eXp Realty/The Franklin Team, and The Flory Team.
The Fall Giving Drive is part of The Howard Hughes Corporation’s corporate social responsibility program, HHCares, which uses community-focused philanthropy as a guiding principle through financial donations and volunteerism. Since the program’s inception, The Howard Hughes Corporation has been an active philanthropist in the Greater Houston region, donating and volunteering annually to more than 180 causes of local non-profit organizations.
“Howard Hughes is proud of the charitable work done through its HHCares program, which allows our employees to give back to the communities in which we live and work,” said Jim Carman, President, Houston Region for The Howard Hughes Corporation. “While we seek to build communities that attract residents and businesses that choose to make them their forever homes, we remain committed to continuing to building a strong sense of goodwill throughout our communities and giving back to the organizations that do critical work to help others. Gratitude goes out to our residents, builders, and real estate agents that do business in our developments that made the Fall Giving Drive possible.”
