FM 2978 at 1488 UPDATE

THE WOODLANDS, TX -- TX DOT is currently working at this intersection. Commissioner Riley has spoken to TX DOT to address the concerns from the community in regards to the traffic. His suggestion of doing this work at night, which is Commissioner Riley’s first choice for work projects in a heavily traveled area, was not an option TX DOT could address due to personnel and supply chain issues. Both of these roads, FM 1488 & FM 2978, are state roads which are maintained by TX DOT.

Due to the traffic congestion in this area, some commuters are cutting through nearby neighborhoods. These roads are public roads, the county cannot prevent vehicles from using them. Law enforcement has been made aware of this situation.

Commissioner Riley reached an agreement with TX DOT and was reassured that construction at this intersection will not be happening on these given days and times for the holidays:
