THE WOODLANDS, TX -- Two temporary road closures are scheduled for the coming days as part of the Birnham Woods Drive widening project between Waterbend Cove and Rayford Road.

Waterbend Cove will be closed to through traffic starting at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, April 30, and is scheduled to reopen by Saturday evening.

The closure, which will be between Birnham Woods Drive and Rayford Road, is necessary in order for contractor Main Lane Industries to install underground storm sewer pipes across Waterbend Cove on the west side of the intersection with Birnham Woods Drive.

Those who need to access the businesses or schools along Waterbend Cove will be able to do so from the Rayford Road side (not Birnham Woods Drive) on Saturday.

In addition, Birnham Woods Drive will be closed to through traffic between Lexington Boulevard and Rayford Road starting at 7:30 Monday night, May 2. This closure also is necessary for underground storm sewer to be placed across Birnham Woods Drive at that location.

Harmony Pines residents will be able to turn right off of Trophy Ridge Drive when exiting their community to access Rayford Road during the closure. However, they will need to enter the neighborhood via Rayford Road onto Harmony Pines Boulevard.
The road will reopen before Tuesday morning traffic for school and work.

The Birnham Woods Drive widening project, which started in March, will widen Birnham Woods Drive from two lanes to four lanes between Waterbend Cove and Rayford Road.
Once completed, there will be two lanes plus a left-turn lane in each direction on Birnham Woods Drive at the intersections with Waterbend Cove and Lexington Boulevard.

The project contract is for 420 calendar days.
