THE WOODLANDS, TX – Quote of the week: “As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words, but to live by them.” – President John F. Kennedy

It’s a short week counterbalanced by the first full week of no normal school classes, making for a unique blend of events. Here are our top five for the week!

Monday, May 30 - Sunday, June 5
With school out for the summer, parents need alternative plans to keep the kiddos active, educated, and just plain out of the house during the week over the break. Fortunately, The Woodlands has tons of summer camps! Just a small sampling includes: USA Ninja Challenge, Miyagi Ken International Academy, Tennis Camp, WOW Science Camp, YMCA Holcomb Day Camp, Cordovan Art School, The TIPS Center Soccer, South County Football League, the Township’s Sunny Dayz Camps, and many, many more! Note that many camps will start on Tuesday this week.

Flash back (or flash forward) to your wacky college days when some of the more innocent fun came in the form of scavenger hunts. An amazing local nonprofit organization, Stronger to Serve, is hosting a month-long Summer Scavenger Hunt. Complete fun missions (related to fun fitness or meaningful volunteering) for weekly giveaways and to win a gift card for your favorite charity (AND bragging rights, of course!).

Here’s some great news for Parrot Heads and non-Parrot Heads alike: Jimmy Buffet and the Coral Reef Band are hitting the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion! The tour, aptly titled Life on the Flip Side – Redux, as Jimmy and the band continue to live Life on the Flip Side, which has had many meanings this past year. We’re also celebrating Jimmy Buffett’s 75th trip around the sun and the 50th anniversary of his journey to Key West, the magical spot that provided (and continues to give) much inspiration behind the legend’s songs and infectious attitudes.
