THE WOODLANDS, TX -- On January 30, 2023, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office responded to The Sanctuary at Jacobs Reserve at 165 Carriage Hills Blvd, Conroe TX 77384 regarding a call reporting a shooting. Upon arrival, MCTX Sheriff Deputies located one male with a gunshot wound to the leg. The male was transported to an area hospital and treated for this non-life-threatening injury. While Deputies were enroute to the location, multiple witnesses gave a description of a potential suspect vehicle fleeing the scene. Other responding Deputies observed a vehicle matching the description leaving the area at a high rate of speed and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to yield and began fleeing at high rates of speed. Multiple law enforcement agencies assisted as the vehicle was pursued into Waller County where the vehicle broke down and the two male occupants were detained.

MCTX Sheriff Homicide & Violent Crimes Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators responded to the location and conducted a follow-up investigation. Detectives were able to determine the occupants of the apartment were involved in drug distribution and the incident was an attempted robbery, not an act of random violence. Detectives determined the two males involved in the pursuit assaulted the victim in the attempted robbery. The Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office accepted charges on the males for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one of the occupants of the apartment with Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to deliver. Charges are still pending on other involved parties and the investigation is ongoing.

We would like to thank Precinct 5 Constable Chris Jones for personally assisting in the pursuit.
